As you ride past beautiful Jackson Square, your tour guide will reconstruct the first days of the old French City. The sights and sounds of the mighty Mississippi River, St. Louis Cathedral, Cabildo and Pontalba buildings are just some of the highlights of this area. You continue past the French Market and the U.S. Mint. On Esplanade Avenue, the outermost boundary of the French Quarter, you will see a stunning display of the many fine Creole homes with delicate wrought iron fences and balconies. Pausing at one of the city’s oldest cemeteries, learn about our unique above-ground burial system. Across Bayou St. John is the beautiful and spacious City Park with its lush greenery and scenic lagoons. Located on the park’s grounds is the New Orleans Museum of Art set among the overhanging Live Oak trees and Spanish Moss. Travel across the Warehouse District and visit Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World.
Blaine Kern, a.k.a. “Mr. Mardi Gras”, has opened his warehouse to the public to give them a close-up of the actual construction and decorating of the massive Mardi Gras floats. Also on display are the world’s most beautiful paper-mache animated figures. A movie will be shown to introduce visitors to this unique celebration. After your tour, you will be treated to hot coffee and famous New Orleans King Cake.
